Tokes Farm Education
…at home in Nature…
Tokes Farm Education is a land-based learning centre and family-run farm in Wiltshire. The brainchild of qualified teacher Lily MacClelland, it aims to take children on a journey of self-discovery engaging with the natural world. Their experience at Tokes Farm provides them with tools they need for a happy, healthy life. Activities include a unique blend of animal and farm work, forest school and craft sessions as well as storytelling and creative play.
Our Vision is to put children of all ages in touch with the natural world to help boost their mental and physical well-being.
We inspire children to…
TEND
Feeding and helping to look after farm animals teaches children about responsibility. It also instills a sense of calm as well as achievement and pride.
Working in the market garden familiarises children with where food comes from as well as helping them realise that any effort put into the growing and harvesting of vegetables leads to delicious meals.
NURTURE
Working together as part of a supportive team helps children develop, strengthen and enliven communication skills.
Land-based learning helps children to develop confidence, self-awareness and self-worth.
A family atmosphere is key to life at Tokes Farm. Cooking - and eating - together in the schoolhouse is an essential part of any day spent there.
Through meaningful work; team success and individual achievements can and must be celebrated.
IMAGINE
Interacting with the natural world, fires up imagination and creativity.
Storytelling and creative activities run alongside farming activities to allow children to express themselves freely and let their imaginations flow.
CONNECT
Children are encouraged to speak out and express their feelings and needs through check-ins and circle times – tailored to their age and stage of development.
A day at Tokes Farm has lasting impact.
