Lily Mcclleland- Leader of the pack
A qualified Steiner Waldorf Teacher, specialising in teaching, 7-to-14 year olds, Lily also holds a fine art degree from Brighton Art College. Believing that children need a well rounded, artistic and explorative approach to learning she chose to explore alternative routes in education and ended up as a class teacher for seven years at the Steiner Academy in Frome where she deepened her understanding of child development. From an early age, Lily showed a natural affinity with children and brings huge amounts of humour, imagination and creativity to her teaching.
Bryony Gardiner - Educational lead & Full time teacher
Born and bred in Dorset, Bryony trained as a Primary School Teacher in central London, and has been plying her trade for over six years. She moved from inner city schools three years ago to dedicate herself to an exciting new approach to primary education in an eco-school, teaching the curriculum through principles of harmony: cycles, health, interdependence, geometry, diversity, oneness and beauty. As a Forest School Leader, and head of Key Stage 1 Music and English, Bryony brought her enthusiasm for the natural world, for literature, and for artistic expression to the classroom, and is now bringing it in bucket loads to Tokes Farm Education.
EMILY HUDSON - VISITING TEACHER
Emily’s journey has always been in education, teaching and leading in a variety of settings - in mainstream, Steiner and forest schools, as well as different social projects around the world and most recently as a mentor in Bristol. Emily is committed to empowering young people to discover their true selves; by working and learning in natural settings that can offer so much inspiration. Her enthusiasm is contagious, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself building an animal pen, making a plant mandala or even hugging a tree!
Finally, Lily’s hard working parents Rob and Annie are the supporting pillars in the background making sure that everything runs as it should. Whether it’s rearing and nurturing the calves, making sure Mr Fox doesn’t get into the chicken run, mowing the lawns, chopping the logs, building fences, growing beautiful flowers or cooking up delicious feasts they are on hand 24/7. In short, without them and their faithful four-legged friends Frankie and Jack, this project would simply not have been possible.
